Conspiracy X - Blood Aggression

Dear Quinton,

Sorry it has been a while between drinks. My social worker has been helping me to stay connected and present. So I hope this can be more regular. My time here is very good at the moment and I am listening to a lot of the music you send me, because it is all killer.

I read your reviews all the time, and you are very clever and clear about what you say. I am using a chat generator thing on my computer to help me write like you. With music, you tell me that there is so much music out there at the moment that it can feel overwhelming, because you go into something wanting to like it, but a person only has so much bandwidth.

I am sure tomorrow that the sun will rise in the east and set in the west. And when you sent me the Bandcamp link to the new Conspiracy X mini album/EP called Blood Aggression, I was just as sure that I was gonna fucking love it. I am not a very honest person. But honestly, Matt Priso is a G. Everyone in here says that these days. If someone is cool and is a boss, then they are a G. Although, songwriting credits here go to Ryan Hornby. His guitar work on this is next level sinister.

So guess what Mr Farrow………. I love Blood Aggression more than my step sister. I see Wendy every third Wednesday, because she is a hairdresser and I am allowed to get external haircuts now because I have been on good behaviour for 6 months, so I figured that I would get my step sister to cut my hair because it grows very quickly. I do love Wendy, but I love Conspiracy X and Blood Aggression more.

You are very good at writing about albums, but I am not as good, but I am trying. So I am going to dot point this one. Maybe your readers will find that easier for this kind of album anyway. I have a flesh eating virus and I have a hole in my back, and you can see the bone sometimes, but I can’t see it, only in the mirror. I don’t know why I wrote that. See what I mean.

Here it goes:

  • The artwork is dark and scary and matches the inhuman qualities of the vocals - Priso is a G with all his artwork.

  • The drumming is different on this one to the previous releases. I researched this and here they used Robin Stone. A very very very good Australian drummer. This sounds more organic and powerful.

  • Blood Aggression sounds confident and assured. This makes me lift my chin up a bit rather than looking at the ground when I walk.

  • Matt’s vocals sound otherworldly, and I will use the word inhuman again. I am trying to think of some kind of monster that eats flesh and drinks blood, but all I can think about is the hole in my back, and I think I will have nightmares tonight.

  • This is a release that deserves to be listened to on a good set of headphones - the depth and mix is very good.

  • The undead are real.

  • There is real groove on this. Groove that you don’t hear much in extreme metal these days. Ryan Hornby can write a serious riff man.

  • This is one of my favourites so far this year. I hope everyone listens to this in the world, but I don’t think that they will.

Music is so good Quinton. Conspiracy X is so good. Killer actually. Thank you once again.

Hi Charles,

Thank you for your very thoughtful letter. I think you summed things up perfectly about Blood Aggression. It is in my top releases of the year as well. I do like everything that Matt Priso appears on, so I may have some bias creeping in, but you don’t. Keep it coming Charles. Keep your chin up brother.
